A letter from WLA's president
Dear Washington Landlord, Manager, or Vendor:
Thank you for considering membership in Washington Landlord Association, registered as a non-profit organization with the State of Washington and the IRS. Our annual schedule includes quarterly dinner meetings in Olympia, Tacoma, Kent, Aberdeen, Bellevue/Redmond, Everett, West Seattle/Ballard, Spokane, Port Angeles, Richland, Vancouver and Ellensburg.
WLA currently has 39,000 members throughout Washington including Snohomish, King, Pierce, Spokane, Thurston, Clark, Whatcom, Grays, Franklin, Clallam and Kittitas counties. This allows for a good exchange in landlord information and vendor outlets. WLA also hosts annual vacation seminars in Hawaii or Mexico, along with annual local conferences in June and December. January through March finds WLA people very busy working in Olympia with the legislature furthering good laws (and fighting bad laws) for landlords and property managers.
WLA's new-membership kit includes a complete set of forms, laws and other management aides. WLA also provides a vacation watch option for members. By our toll-free telephone, we provide oversight of your rentals and resolve any emergencies while you are out of town at a minimal cost of only $5.00 per unit for a 2-week period (less for larger complexes). WLA vendors also provide credit reports to members for only $12.50 each (or 23.50 for combination reports that include credit, eviction, criminal, civil backgrounds and credit scores).
One of WLA's most popular benefits is the option for members to call our toll-free number for help or ideas, such as eviction strategies, marketing tips, maintenance options, etc. Call 1-888-753-9150. It's also very helpful to come to meetings and network for yourself as to what other landlords and managers are doing.
Our quarterly newsletter includes write-ups on all our meeting programs, so members get the informational benefits of all WLA meetings. We also list several dozen commercial vendors that service the landlord industry including screening, legal, maintenance, accounting, collections, financial, banking, etc.
Of special note, WLA members have the option to attend any meeting of their choosing, at any time! We also keep members up-to-date on changes to laws affecting landlords, along with new ideas, programs and services for the landlord community.
